Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers. (1 Timothy 4:16)
Paul expected Timothy, and therefore all leaders, to know their doctrine and keep their lives in line with it so that they could be men and women grounded in the truth. Satan would like nothing better than to lead us astray through falsehood and deception. Yes, disciples and leaders need to know their doctrine! It is not simply important but essential. We must be able to understand it, teach it, and lovingly refute false doctrine. Without sound doctrine, nothing can go well in the ministry. After all, the word “sound” in Greek is also translated as “healthy.” Therefore, without sound doctrine, we will create “unhealthy churches.”
This study guide, Didachē, which means “doctrine” or “teaching” in Greek, will help augment basic ministry training by teaching vital Christian doctrines, thus rounding out the incredible leaders God is raising up in this generation! Strength and courage come from character, which comes from a relationship with God, but the truth comes from the Scriptures this is what we call “doctrine.” God has always wanted his leaders to be grounded in the truth to lead successfully. This study guide will give you a great start!
Happy reading, family!
